looking at you, looking at me is a collection of photographs of individuals who embody a feminine experience and the spaces they inhabit. Seeking connection and renewal after my feminity had been diminished, I reached out to the people around me and asked if I could make portraits of them. I began to reconnect with old friends, as well as strangers who graciously invited me into their lives to photograph them. This project was made using a twin lens reflex camera which does not rest in front of my face nor my eye, but in front of my stomach while photographing. I pose my subject, focus the image, look up, and make eye contact with them. At this moment, there is a vulnerability and intimacy between both parties, there is no barrier that lies between us.
